This is one of the most fun, competitive, and unpredictable things we’ve ever done at Strive.
The Brains vs Brawn Adventure Race is a team-based challenge inspired by The Amazing Race—right here in Bastrop.
You and your team will:
Solve clues
Navigate to locations across downtown Bastrop
Complete challenges at each stop
At every station, you’ll face a decision:
Brains → Solve it
Brawn → Grind it
Choose wrong… and it will cost you.
Your final time depends on it.
Event Details
📅 Date: May 2
⏰ Start Time: 3:00 PM
👥 Teams: 2–4 people
📍 Start Location: Strive Strength & Conditioning
🏃 Movement: Walking / Running only
📏 Distance: ~10K total (unless you get lost…)
⏱ Duration: 2–3 hours + social and awards after
Registration
Register by April 12 → $15 per team
Register April 13–24 → $20 per team
Registration closes April 24
⚠️ Spots are limited based on start waves. Once they’re full, registration closes.
How It Works
Teams start every 3 minutes
Start order is randomly assigned
You’ll begin with your first clue.
Then:
Solve it → Find the location → Complete a challenge → Get your next clue
You’ll hit 3 total stations, but not in the same order as everyone else.
At each station:
Choose Brains or Brawn
You get 5 minutes max
Your result impacts your final time
Everything is tracked on your race passport.
Finish all stations → return to the start → your final time is locked in.
Lose your passport? → +1 hour penalty
The Twist
You’re not just racing.
You’re making decisions under pressure.
At every station:
Do you go Brains and risk getting stuck?
Do you go Brawn and push your limits?
Do you quit and take the penalty?
The fastest team might not win.
The team that makes the best decisions wins.

Scoring
Your final time is adjusted based on performance:
✅ Finish a challenge → –3 minutes
❌ Try but fail → +3 minutes
🛑 Quit early → +7 minutes

Do I have to be super fit?
No. Every station has both mental and physical options.
Can I use my phone?
Yes for navigation.
No for challenges.
How hard are the challenges?
Hard enough to make you think.
Each takes about 3–5 minutes if completed.
What if we can’t finish a challenge?
You can keep trying or quit and take the penalty.
Your call.
Can we split up?
No. Teams must stay together.
How far is it?
Around 10K, depending on how well you solve clues.
Can non-members join?
Yes! Non-member teams are encouraged! Bring friends. Bring family.
